This super simple recipe was another one of my grandmother’s favorite appetizers to whip out during the holiday season. With only three ingredients (or two if you so desire), they are rich, packed with flavor, and completely addicting. Being the great cook that she was, she would buy plain goat cheese and whip in her own fresh herbs from the garden. I highly recommend doing this to add something “fresh” to the canned or jarred peppers. But in a pinch, you can purchase herbed goat cheese at the store and make these in less than 5 minutes.
Pop one in your mouth and surprise your palate with sweet and heat from the pickled piquante peppers, finished with creamy, fluffy, herby goat cheese. Originating in the Limpopo province of South Africa, the “Peppadew” pepper became internationally known for its sweet flavor made during the pickling process. And the end product is actually made from a sweet piquante pepper, also know as a Juanita pepper. It’s described as being “peppery” but “sweet as the dew.” Hence – peppadew.
