*REPOST FROM THE OLD BLOG*

I mean, what more can I say about this dessert, snack, sweet treat that it’s name doesn’t already say? As someone who truly isn’t good at baking, making dessert is a rarity in my household but these are easy, fool-proof, and lip-smackingly good.
I went to Costco a few weeks ago and was apparently craving Cheerios at the time because I bought three extra large family size boxes of the cereal. At the time it seemed like a great idea. I love plain Cheerios! I love them so much I’ll eat them dry out of the box. But as the weeks went by and I clearly didn’t consume as many Cheerios as I thought, I decided to make something with it. I hate throwing out food and they were getting stale! So say hello to Pumpkin Spiced Hot Buttered Cheerios. It’s basically Betty Crocker’s Cinnamon Sugar Cheerios with a splash of pumpkin to fit right in with our favorite holiday flavors.
You can make a large batch and put out as a snack for the family, you can douse it with milk for a sensationally sweet breakfast, OR you can go crazy and crumble them on top of vanilla ice cream. That’s what Nick and I did here and boy was it good.

INGREDIENTS
4 cups Plain Cheerios
½ cup Butter
¼ tsp. Vanilla Extract
¼ cup Granulated Sugar
1 tsp. Ground Cinnamon
1 tsp. Pumpkin Spice
Serving Size: 4
INSTRUCTIONS
- In a small bowl, mix together the sugar, cinnamon, and pumpkin spice. Set aside.
- In a large skillet, melt butter of low heat.
- Add vanilla extract and stir to combine.
- Gently stir in the Cheerios, coating evenly with butter and lightly toasting the cereal.
- After 4-5 minutes, remove from heat and pour the sugar mixture on top.
- Toss well to coat.
- Allow to cool completely.
- Enjoy!
